3 Questions You Will Be Asked When Working With A Construction Staffing Service

Posted on

Needing to get job roles filled in your construction operation means either taking time out of your busy schedule to do the hiring or work with an outside staffing agency to help you out. For most construction business owners it is more logical to work with a staffing agency to get open positions filled quickly. When you initially contact one of these agencies to help with your staffing needs you will be asked a series of questions about your needs. Take a look at some of the things you will be asked when you are working with a construction staffing services

What credentials should candidates have?

Construction jobs can range in complexity and may require different skill sets of employees. You may need some average laborers who will assist on site with general work, you may need laborers who have specific technical training, and you may even prefer that candidates have certain educational credentials. You will be asked about what you prefer when you contact a construction staffing service for help, so it is a good idea to think about what you really want as far as credentials are concerned before you call.

Should the candidates have certain physical capabilities?

If you are hiring for certain positions within your company it may be necessary that job candidates possess certain physical capabilities. For example, someone who will primarily assist masonry efforts will probably need to be able to do some heavy lifting, bending, and squatting without any issues. If there are going to be points of the job position that will require these capabilities they will need to be stated in the job description when the staffing agency talks to candidates, so make sure you know what it is you need.

Will these be full-time employees or temporary employees?

It is not uncommon for construction companies to need employees only on a temporary basis as they complete projects. However, many do employ full-time individuals who go from project to project with the company, especially if companies stay pretty consistently busy with work orders. The staffing agency will ask about what you are looking for so they know how to find candidates that would be interested in working on either type of basis. If you would prefer to hire people on a temporary basis with a possible opportunity of hiring them full-time, make sure you let the staffing agency know this as well.
